Dornoch Tours

This 12-hour itinerary by John Patrick Herold showcases Sutherland’s rich dual history:

  • Morning: Visit dunrobin-castle in Golspie (15 mins north on the A9). Explore the château-style state rooms and the seasonal 10:30 AM falconry displays in the formal gardens.
  • Lunch: Return to Dornoch square for Cullen skink, toasties, or fish and chips.
  • Afternoon: Visit dornoch-cathedral and join a 1-hour daytime walk with dornoch-tour (book online) to see the historic town square, old jail, and the Witch’s Stone.
  • Evening: Brave the atmospheric evening Ghost Tour to walk the historic wynds. Led by local guides, this tour shares stories of Janet Horne—the last woman executed for witchcraft in Britain—and local hauntings.
  • On Your Own: Download the DornochGhost app on the Apple App Store for a companion self-guided tour.

This itinerary covers nine centuries of Highland heritage over a couple of gentle, easy miles. Book walking tours in advance on our site.
